Happy Birthday Church!
Today is Pentecost, the day in the church year when we remember
the descent of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church in Acts 2. The Red
colors on the altar table symbolize the Holy Spirit, who descended from
Heaven in tongues of fire (Acts 2:3).
Welcome Rev. Dr. William and Audrey Edsall!
On Sunday, June 13th
we are thrilled to be led in worship by the Rev. Dr. William F. Edsall. Rev.
Edsall is a retired member of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the
UMC. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kansas Wesleyan University and a
Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry
from Drew University
in Madison, New Jersey. During his career, Rev. Edsall served eight pastoral
appointments. On retirement he and his wife, Audrey, moved to the North Hills
of Pittsburgh in 2001. They have two children, a son Jeremy, who lives in
Virginia Beach with his wife and two children, and a daughter, Kristen who
lives in Pittsburgh. Please take a moment after the service to welcome Rev. Edsall
and Audrey.
Visit from St. Paul’s Youth
Next weekend (June 18-19), 35 youth from St Paul’s UMC in
Louisville, KY
will be coming to Faith. They are on their way to NY for
missions work and
will be spending the night at the church on Sat. June 18th.
Feel free
to come welcome and fellowship with our guests on
Saturday evening. Dinner is at 7PM. Then, on Sunday, June 19th, St. Paul’s
youth choir will sing in our worship service. Please dress down on the 19th and
come to worship as we welcome our brothers and sisters from KY!
Shake It Up at VBS This Summer
We are Shaking it Up Cafe style for VBS this year! VBS
will be held July 17-21. Information and registration forms are out in the
Narthex, hanging on the bulletin board. Grab one per child, fill it out and
hand it in to Amy Parkinson or drop it off at the church office. Registration
deadline is June 15th. Feel free to grab more to pass out to family or
friends in the community. We are still
in need of adult helpers. Please pray about it and
let Amy know if you would like to volunteer and help out
with VBS this year. What a great ministry to offer the kids in the community!
Keep an eye out
for more information on supplies and donations that will
be needed.
Other VBS Opportunities this Summer

Interested in Confirmation?
After a wonderful
confirmation Sunday in May, plans are in the works to offer confirmation
again this summer. If you, or someone you know, is interested in
confirmation, please let Pastor Tom know. Classes will begin in July, and
confirmation Sunday will be in October.
Summer Sunday School
We are currently in
need of volunteers to teach the summer Sunday School class for a week at a
time. You don’t have to be an expert in the Bible, but you do need to be
willing to share God’s love with our children. Please consider signing up for
one of the following weeks to support the Christian nurture of our children:
June 26th, July, 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st.
Summer Worship Schedule
Beginning Sunday, July 3rd, we
will have two opportunities for Sunday morning Worship: 9:00 a.m. –
Traditional Worship in Sanctuary 10:00 a.m. – Outdoors Worship in Chapel in
the Woods Childcare will be available for both services. Sunday School will
be held at 10:00 a.m. for children ages 4-8.
Bread for Life Food Pantry
We will be collecting food items in response to
the WPA Conference initiative to eliminate poverty. The items for
donation will change each month. Please bring donations of Salad
Dressings and Mayonnaise during the month of June. There will be a
wheelbarrow in the narthex for your donations.
